Shepley
Friday 21st
At half 12.00 I left school. It took 2½ hours to get there. We got stopped on the road for an accident and had to go the long way round. When we got there Gary came along to take us to the camping spot. We had to where these bands as well. It took ages for us to set up the camp so Haley [Megan’s mam] took us to the fair. We bought a flower bobble and Josh and Zack got a musical instrument. When we got back the tent was made and we all set up our stuff. We then all went round to Donna’s and saw all our friends. On Friday night we had a bbq and went back to the fair.
Saturday 22nd
We had to meet at Donna’s at 11.00 all ready in our kilts. We had to walk to the fair and dance there for a little bit. There were all different types of dancers like Tap dancers, us Scottish dancers, Morris dancers and a band.
It was hot and we had our woolly socks on we were boiling. We had about 50 bottles of water. We were starting to walk to cliffe house when Donna said she would catch us up because Emily and Heather got this blue dye on their clothes. When we got to the cliffe house we watched other dancers do their dancing. There was people looking like it was Halloween and girls dressed as waiters but they were really good. We did the fling and the girls did other things as well. We had to walk then all the way to the black bull to perform there.
Then we walked all the way back up to the festival to do the swords, fling and some other dances. We got back to the tents to get changed and then went back to the fair. It was a great day just hot and sweaty. We all played games while I think the adults got a bit drunk.
The festival went on until 1.00 in the morning and if that wasn’t enough the people in the beer tent were drunk and were singing like mad.
Sunday 23rd
My birthday came and I woke my mam up at 7.30 to get my presents. When everyone was awake I got a present of Donna, a DVD and happy birthday off everyone.
We had to be ready at 11.00 in our kilts we danced at the festival and I got a candyfloss after I had danced {I was very careful} then straight down to the black bull. We saw the men with the flower hats and they were funny. We saw the dancers and they danced all the way back and into the festival. After the black bull we could go home. WOOOO! It was a great weekend and I think all the dancers should try and make it next time.
